“New in the Old”
The area remained agricultural well into the 1900’s. In 1946, the developer William Levitt, tuning up for mass production at Levittown a year later, built capes and ranches on farmland he bought in the hamlet. By the 1960’s the cows, chickens and farms had been replaced by a fully developed suburb.
